Composer Bio

Heather Seaton (b. 1975) was born, raised, and adopted in Connecticut.  She came
from a musical birth-family and began to learn the piano by ear and compose at the
age of twelve.  In college, she studied composition with Mary Ann Joyce-Walter,
Robert Carl, Ken Steen, David MacBride, and Steven Gryc, earning her B.Mus. and
M.Mus. in Music Composition from The Hartt School.

In France, she attended the Darius Milhaud Conservatory, La Schola Cantorum,
and ‘La Sorbonne,’ at the University of Paris.  She supplemented this with private
lessons; studying composition and orchestration with Roger Tessier and piano with
Frederique Darmon and Germaine Tocatlian.

In 2001, Heather established the Annual Women Composers Festival of Hartford,
Connecticut; through this festival, the works of over a hundred women composers
have been performed and recorded.   The Friends of Women Composers Society,
composed of a corp of music-loving volunteers, has been producing the festival for
a decade.

Heather's music is influenced by her years of involvement with theatre, creative
writing, and dance.   As a composer, Heather has worked in many genres and
prefers writing in a lyrical and accessible style.  Creating sacred choral music is her
‘calling’ and her church music has been performed across the country.

Her music is currently self-published through Heather House Press,
available at www.HeatherHouseProductions.com.
